The research institution of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, i.e. the Graduate School of Fine Arts, was founded in July, 1986, under the approval of Guangdong Higher Education Bureau. At the present time, the institution runs in the form of “department and school in one”. To meet the features of the scientific research of the academy and the need of the development of the subjects, the Graduate School, after years of construction and adjustment, now has eight subordinate Research Offices: Ling Nan Painting School Research Office, Art Education Lab, Design Research Office, Art Research Office, Hu Yichuan Research Office, Guan Shanyue Research Office, Li Xiongcai Research Office and Calligraphy and Seal-cutting Research Office.
